On the occasion of the publication of his book poems Our plots of land very vague (Asphodel Editions) Marlene Tissot has agreed to answer some questions.
*
NOT NOT: This is not to insult you, I guess, say that you are not very familiar to the general public! Can you tell us a little about yourself, who you are and what place poetry in your life.
MARLENE TISSOT: Currently, I am a job seeker. The disadvantage is that all these antics I would stoop to convince an employer to choose me me and not someone else ... The advantage is that I have free time to do things I like !
Poetry (writing more generally) is in a particularly invasive in my life. It grows in the interstices of everyday life. But in general I find the time to clean house, cooking, job interviews and all things that most people do.
NDN: What are your references in poetry and literature?
MT: Actually I have a very poor literary culture (I studied technical) I've always loved to read. Teenager, I read everything I could lay my hand, regardless of gender or age. I attended many libraries. Partly because I was not good at building relationships with my peers ... Strangely, I have long hated poetry. Because I kept a school and boring image. Bukowski is that reconciled me with this universe. In general, I tend to be attracted by the writings rough, a little trashy. Things that move the reader, who take guts. Those who feel life. I have trouble with anything that is too smooth ...
NDN: We found your name to the list of several sites that publish magazines and other poets as we like here: Vinau Thomas, William Siaudeau, Cathy Garcia ... Do you feel part of a "movement" of a school, a generation?
MT: Not easy to answer this question ... I think we need further experience to determine whether there is a "movement" or whatever else may create some unity among authors . I know Cathy and read for years. I love his energy. Between rage and sensuality. I admire Thomas for a long time also. His writing me havoc. He knows three lines express more things than others in a hundred! William, it is extremely visual, as if drawing pictures with words. I like many authors, each with their own universe. I do not know if they are part of a larger whole that I missed, either because I have a little trouble with the idea to stick labels, stored in boxes or because my literary culture definitely leaves something to be desired ...
NDN: Your writing, while describing the harsh realities, still very fresh, very human, always knowing what to keep and lightness of derision for not descending into pathos. How would you describe in your case, your style and the poems in this collection?
MT: It is difficult to judge on his own words. I guess I write like I am. With pain returned. Without making too much noise. Without making too many waves. With derision, yes, to keep enough distance. I hate whining, of complacency. Sometimes I have the most cruel word. Cruder. I am someone who has trouble letting go ...
NDN: And finally, what are your plans? Other collections in sight? Other forms of writing: short stories, novels?
MT: Other forms of writing, yes! New shorter or longer. Some laze in magazines from time to time. Some coming in a project initiated by Herve Merlot. But I do not know where things are so ... And then a lot of projects that travel mostly through my drawers! Collections, novels, epics, which would require more than ... but as I sorely lack of confidence in me, I always pushes the time to contact an editor.
